International Day of Education: Niger assures of quality Education

Niger State Commissioner Of Education, Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu has reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to the provision of quality and all inclusive education to the citizens of the state.

She stated this in a speech to commemorate this year’s International Day of Education, a day dedicated for the promotion and access to education as a right for public good.

The Commissioner said Niger State government has placed high premium on provision of quality education and the encouragement of girl child education for gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty for increased schools enrollment, as well as to give out-of school children opportunity to have formal education in the state.

Hajiya Hannatu noted that Niger state has been consistent in implementing the UBE programme with the objective to achieve unhindered universal access, participation, and completion of basic education by all school age and adolescent boys and girls.

It should be noted that the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24th January as International Day of Education and the theme for the 2023 International day is “to invest in people, prioritize education “.

This year’s celebration is expected to call for maintaining strong political mobilization around education and chart the way to translate commitments and global initiatives into action.

She therefore use the medium to call on all and sundry to support in promoting the use of the Nigeria Learning Passport and other innovative approaches that the Ministry will be rolling out to ensure that every Nigerlite has access to basic and quality learning irrespective of location, gender and family background.
