Is NIYEEDEP the Same as YEIDEP? What You Must Know About Your the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalization Programme …

Recently, one of our readers, Joseph, reached out with a very common question that many of you may also have:

“I applied through the old NIYEEDEP portal. Is it valid for the upcoming disbursement, or do I need to reapply on the new YEIDEP portal?”

We’ve received similar messages from dozens of people via DMs, emails, and even comment sections. So instead of replying one by one, we’ve decided to break it down clearly in this post—for everyone. If you applied for the youth empowerment program last year or recently came across the new YEIDEP website, this update is for you.

NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP – Are They the Same?

Yes, NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP are the same program. There is no difference in their structure or purpose—just a name change. What was once called NIYEEDEP (Nigeria Youth Employment Empowerment Digital Programme) has been rebranded to YEIDEP (Youth Employment and Industrial Development Empowerment Programme).

So if you applied through the old NIYEEDEP portal, you’re still in the system. But—and this is a big but—there’s one key condition.

When Is the Old NIYEEDEP Application Still Valid?

Your previous NIYEEDEP application is only valid if you completed the full process, which includes:

  • Receiving a unique code (via SMS or email)

  • Using that code to open a bank account with one of YEIDEP’s partner banks

If you never received the code, or received it but didn’t use it to open an account, your application is incomplete.

And unfortunately, incomplete applications are not eligible for disbursement.

In Short:

✅ If you opened a bank account with your code → You’re good to go
❌ If you didn’t receive a code or open an account → You need to reapply

Can You Apply Again on the New YEIDEP Portal?

Yes, you can—but there are a few things you should know:

  • The new YEIDEP portal is https://yeidep.org ( Not Active at the Moment , but we advise you to keep trying until you are able to apply successfully)

  • You won’t receive any code this time around

  • One of the YEIDEP banks will contact you a few days after your application to help you open a special account

  • You can only apply once—if the portal shows an error, it probably means you’ve already applied (maybe without realizing it)

So, if you’ve submitted your application already, no need to submit again unless your previous one was incomplete.

What If Two YEIDEP Banks Contact You?

It can happen and it’s perfectly normal.

YEIDEP banks are competing to onboard you because the program allows multiple partner banks to serve applicants. But you only need one account to be eligible for funds. So, pick one and ignore the rest.

As long as you have one verified YEIDEP account, you’re covered.

To anyone asking the same question Ola did—your old NIYEEDEP application is valid only if it was completed properly (i.e., with a bank account). If not, the safest option is to reapply on the official YEIDEP portal.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. It’s better to reapply now than to assume and get left out when disbursement starts.

FAQs About NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP

1. Is NIYEEDEP the same as YEIDEP?
Yes. YEIDEP is simply the new name for NIYEEDEP. Both refer to the same youth empowerment program.

2. I applied through NIYEEDEP last year. Is that still valid?
Only if you received a code and used it to open a bank account with a YEIDEP partner bank.

3. I didn’t receive a code or open an account—what should I do?
Your application is incomplete. You need to reapply via https://yeidep.org.

4. Can I apply again on the YEIDEP portal?
Yes, if your previous application was incomplete. Otherwise, only one application per person is allowed.

5. I’ve been contacted by more than one bank. What should I do?
That’s normal. Just choose one bank and proceed. You only need one verified account to qualify.

Man Arrested After Disguising as Dispatch Rider to Murder Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.” Deborah’s sister described her as a hardworking interior decorator who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. On the night of the attack, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider in an attempt to infiltrate the estate. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
