The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled Saturday, August 6, 2022, as the date for its Mop Up UTME in order to provide equal chances to all applicants seeking tertiary education.
It should be noted that, as is the Board’s custom after each Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the various reports from its officials in the field and video footage of the examination are reviewed by its team of experts in an effort to identify activities subversive to the examination process. The Management would determine the necessity of a mop-up examination for which group of candidates only after all the reports have been compiled and reviewed.
Following an extensive review into the conduct of the 2022 UTME in 10 centres spread across five states of the federation (as mentioned below), where examination malpractice was discovered, it became necessary to cancel the results of all candidates who sat the examination in the ten centres.
The Board also noted that some innocent candidates were required to take their exams at these venues.
As a result, all candidates who took the UTME at the following centers have been rescheduled for the Mop-up UTME on August 6, 2022. Candidates who were unable to attend such centers for whatever reason are ineligible for the mop-up examination. The following are the centers:
Other categories of applicants slated for the Mop up UTME on August 6, 2022, are:
- 142 candidates who were unable to take the UTME due to fingerprint anomalies;
- 28 candidates who were unable to take the examination due to technical difficulties in several centres; and
- 1,799 unsuccessful BVM candidates who were recaptured at testing centres.
The Board reiterates that examination fraud will not be accepted and that it will do everything possible to prevent it. In the same vein, the Board confirms its commitment to conducting genuine matriculation examinations for all tertiary institutions in the country, while upholding the sanctity of its examination process to uphold the Board’s integrity.
