The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made public the results of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Tuesday. The Computer Based Test (CBT) was administered from Tuesday, April 25 to Monday, May 1 across 708 CBT centers situated in 105 towns across the country. A total of 1,595,779 candidates had registered for the exam.

However, the released results did not include candidates who were rescheduled to take their examination on Saturday, May 6, or those who were absent from the test. Additionally, candidates with visual impairments and those under investigation have had their results withheld for further processing.

JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, stated that candidates can check their results by sending a text message with the word UTMERESULT to either 55019 or 66019 from the phone number they used for registration. It is important to note that the response message will provide the status of the candidate. If the candidate was absent or rescheduled, the message will indicate this. The same applies to candidates whose results are under investigation.

The release of the UTME results marks the conclusion of the examination, which has been a crucial step for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for over four decades. The exam is expected to be a fair and transparent basis for admission into higher institutions in the country, as it provides a level playing field for all candidates regardless of their background or social status.
