Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results Today Friday 9th May 2025

If you sat for the 2025 UTME, here’s some good news: the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that results will be released today Friday, May 9, 2025.

According to a statement shared with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the results will be made public by 8am at JAMB’s national office in Bwari, Abuja.

That means by Friday morning, candidates can start checking their scores and get a sense of where they stand in the ongoing university admission process.

Over 1.9 Million Candidates Wrote the Exam

The 2025 UTME saw a huge turnout — over 1.9 million students registered to take the exam across Nigeria. Each candidate sat for four subjects, with English Language as compulsory, and three others tied to their chosen field of study.

Unfortunately, JAMB’s internal analysis ahead of the results paints a worrying picture. According to the board, more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, which many institutions consider the minimum benchmark for admission into degree programs.

Government Says Anti-Malpractice Measures Are Working

Reacting to the performance data, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the low scores reflect the effectiveness of tougher anti-exam-malpractice policies introduced in recent years.

“The high failure rate is proof that reforms within JAMB are working. Students now have to depend on their actual abilities,” Dr. Alausa explained.

What the 2025 UTME Results Mean for Admission

This year’s UTME results will form the foundation for admission into Nigeria’s universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Institutions will soon begin releasing cut-off marks, post-UTME dates, and admission guidelines — all based on these UTME scores.

So whether you’re aiming for UNILAG, ABU, UNIBEN, or any other school, this result will determine your next move.

Man Arrested After Disguising as Dispatch Rider to Murder Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.” Deborah’s sister described her as a hardworking interior decorator who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. On the night of the attack, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider in an attempt to infiltrate the estate. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
