Endowed by the John and Alice Tyler Charitable Trusts, the Prize is administered by the University of Southern California, with recipients selected annually by the Executive Committee.

Objectives of the Tyler Prize

The Tyler Prize aims to honor exceptional contributions in the following areas:

  • Ecological and Environmental Protection: Recognizing efforts to protect, maintain, improve, or understand ecological or environmental conditions.
  • Sustainable Energy: Celebrating discoveries, developments, or improvements in sustainable energy sources.

  • Prize Amount: The annual award is $250,000. If there are joint winners, the cash prize will be shared.

Nomination Requirements

Nominations must be submitted in English through the online Nomination Form and should include the following details:

  • Nominee and Nominator Information: Full names, addresses, and contact numbers (home or cell phone) for both the nominee and the nominator.
  • Summary of Accomplishments: A one to two-page summary detailing the nominee’s or organization’s achievements, discoveries, or improvements, including links to relevant websites and works.
  • References: A list of 3 to 5 individuals who can provide reference letters if the nomination is shortlisted. References should detail the impact of the nominee’s work and other relevant criteria for the Prize.
  • Supporting Documents:
    • For individual nominations: A short Curriculum Vitae with links to pertinent publications, reports, and websites.
    • For organizational nominations: A brochure or datasheet, website links, and any additional supporting information.
  • Submission Guidelines:
    • Nominations must be submitted through the designated online forms (contact amber@tylerprize.org for accessibility exceptions).
    • All file names must include the nomination year and nominee’s name (e.g., JoannaSmithREFEREES2025, ACMEReferees2025).
    • Self-nominations are not accepted.

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
