Applications are currently open for the prestigious Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), offering fully funded opportunities for citizens of specific developing countries. Here are the key details:

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality: Be a citizen of a developing country listed as a member of the World Bank.
  • Citizenship: Hold citizenship only in a developing country, excluding dual citizenship with any developed nation.
  • Health: Be in good health.
  • Education: Possess a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) acquired at least 3 years prior to the Application Deadline.
  • Professional Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years of paid full-time employment in development-related work since obtaining the bachelor’s degree, acquired within the past 6 years from the application deadline.

Benefits:

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship offers recipients the following benefits:

  • Travel: Economy class air travel between the home country and the host university at the beginning and end of the study program, along with a US $600 travel allowance for each trip.
  • Tuition: Coverage of tuition fees for the graduate program and basic medical insurance obtained through the university.
  • Living Expenses: A monthly subsistence allowance to cover living expenses, including accommodation, food, and books, during the scholarship period. The amount varies depending on the host country.

Not Covered by the Scholarship:

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship does not cover certain expenses, including:

  • Visa application costs
  • Support for family members
  • Extra-curricular courses or training
  • Language training not provided by the graduate program
  • Additional travel during the study program
  • Research-related expenses or educational materials
  • Educational equipment such as computers
  • Resident permit fee

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit one online application, including:

  • Completed application form through the JJ/WBGSP application portal by the specified deadline.
  • Two professional recommendation letters submitted online.
  • Agreement to conditions stated on the signature page of the application form, written in either English or the language of the master’s degree program.
