Isa Ali Pantami, the former Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, recently disclosed that a friend of his has stepped forward with a generous offer to contribute N50 million towards the release of the five remaining sisters who were abducted in Abuja. The abduction of these sisters, including one identified as Nabeeha, on January 2, 2024, prompted a widespread fundraising campaign on social media to gather the ransom.

Taking to his X handle on Sunday, Pantami shared his stance on the matter, stating, ‘I am personally not in support of paying ransom to criminals. However, since it became clear that we lost our daughter Nabeeha yesterday, and the five remaining daughters have been threatened, as I spoke with the father on the matter yesterday and today.’

The former minister’s revelation adds a new dimension to the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the abducted sisters, as the debate over paying ransoms to kidnappers continues to stir discussions within the Nigerian community. The situation remains fluid, and the public is closely following developments in the hopes of a safe and successful resolution for the affected family.”

“Former Minister Pantami’s Friend Donates N50 Million Towards Ransom for Abducted Sisters

In a recent update on the abduction case involving Nabeeha and her five sisters in Abuja, former Minister Isa Ali Pantami revealed that a generous friend and brother has offered to contribute the remaining N50 million towards the demanded ransom of N60 million. Pantami conveyed the gratitude and prayers for the donor, expressing hopes that the funds would aid in the treatment of the remaining daughters and other family members.

Sharing the development on his X handle, Pantami stated, ‘Furthermore, I spoke with a friend and a brother who offered to pay the remaining 50 million Naira of the 60m immediately. I conveyed the account number of the father of our daughters, Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, to the friend and brother to send the money directly. Any additional amount earlier generated from yesterday, the father can use to treat the daughters and other family members in sha Allah.’

He concluded with prayers for the donor and all those who contributed, hoping for the Almighty Allah’s reward and forgiveness for Nabeeha while also seeking the rescue of her remaining sisters. Pantami extended his wishes for improved security in the country and a better Nigeria for everyone.

The situation took a tragic turn as one of the sisters, Nabeeha, was reportedly killed by the kidnappers after the failure to meet the ransom deadline. The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with ongoing efforts to raise the demanded funds for the release of the remaining sisters. The hashtag #Najeebaandhersisters has been circulating on social media to garner support and funds for this purpose.”
