The National Cybercrime Center of the Nigeria Police Force apprehended the owner and members of Gistlover Blog following a petition filed by Honorable and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo, as reported by Linda Ikeji Blog. The arrests are linked to a case involving Conspiracy, Cyberstalking, and Threats to life.
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police force’s spokesperson, the individuals in custody—Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu, and Isaac Akpokighe—are allegedly part of a syndicate known as Gistlover family.
The Gistlover family, as per Adejobi, operates the Gistlover blog, a microblogging platform notorious for engaging in Cyberstalking, incitement, Blackmail, and other illicit activities that have raised public concern.
The police statement reveals that upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the conspiracy, aligning with the substantial evidence already collected. Adebukola Kolapo, alias Omo oba Gistlover, is said to have played a significant role in creating over 80 percent of the Gistlover pages, leaving a digital footprint for the commission of criminal acts.
Adebukola, allegedly on the platform’s payroll, received perks such as cars and monetary incentives. His responsibilities included scouting, editing, captioning content, and specifically targeting the complainant, Hon. and Dr. Mrs. Oluseyi Oladejo, with cyberstalking posts. Additionally, Adebukola is accused of aiding in the laundering of funds acquired through illegal schemes.
Digital forensic analysis led to the discovery of eight Gistlover pages, all reportedly created by Adebukola under the direction of the syndicate’s head. Wallet addresses linked to money laundering activities were also identified through the analysis.
