Katsina: 46 Persons Abducted By Bandits

Over the weekend, approximately 46 people were kidnapped by bandits in the communities of the Batsari and Funtua local government areas of Katsina State.

Goldennewsng reports that on Friday, 28 people were taken hostage and one person was killed in the Karare village of the Batsari Local Government Area.

He explained that the gunmen entered the village early in the morning and left with the victims, who included about 40 women and children on motorcycles.

The source says that most of the students from Kokiya village who were going to Government Day Secondary School in Karare were kidnapped.

He went on to say, “The attackers came from the southern part of the village and started shooting sporadically, which resulted in one person’s death.”

According to the source, the intruders kidnapped 28 people, including students, but only released four of them after telling one Malam Ladan and three children that they would not accept old naira notes for ransom.

He claims that one additional person escaped, 23 people are currently with the bandits, and the abductors have not demanded a ransom.
