Nigerian self acclaimed investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has reacted to a trending song released by Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, and his colleague, Vector.

The piece by Falz and Vector mocked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, following the outcome of the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Naija News reports.

A clip of the new single posted online yesterday by the duo has continued to generate a barrage of reactions as Nigerians expressed their different thoughts.

Falz and Vector insinuated in the new release that Yakubu exhibited fraudulent behaviours during the just concluded general election.

In the song’s lyrics, Falz and Vector also captured some of the excuses the electoral umpire gave on reasons the presidential election results were not uploaded in real-time on its portal.

Some irregularities on the part of security operatives during the election were also acted out in the music video.

Reacting, Olunloyo took to her microblogging page to condemn the song, saying it was Dead On Arrival (DOA).

According to her, late Nigerian musician and political activist, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, started music activism and was accepted globally but that the song ‘Mr Yakubu’ by Falz and Vector is dead on arrival.

“I love Music Activism. FELA started it and it spread globally with musicians singing about issues in society but that “Yakubu”track by Falz is DOA,” Olunloyo wrote on Twitter.
