Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday, dragged a human rights activist and Executive Director of the Due Process Advocates, Emeka Ugwuonye to a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, demanding N5.1bn for allegedly defamatory publication.

One of the defamatory materials was said to have been published and circulated to third parties on the internet on February 5, 2022, and continued till February 8 2022.

Nigerian Secret Police, DSS Denies Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyers Access To Agitator

Ejimakor, Special counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, on Monday, kicked against the refusal of operatives the Department of State Services to grant him access to his client.

Ejimakor, in a post on his Twitter handle on Monday, said the DSS barred lawyers to the detained IPOB leader from meeting Kanu last Thursday and today, Monday.

The lawyer noted that the act by the DSS was in contravention of the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja, who said Kanu should be allowed to meet his lawyers twice a week – Mondays and Thursdays.

According to report by the PG, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya has announced the death of Ambassador Wilfred Machage, High Commissioner of Kenya to Nigeria.

According to a statement on the Ministry’s website, Mr Machage collapsed at his Abuja residence on Saturday and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed on at 12:30 p.m.

“Machage was appointed High Commissioner of Kenya to Nigeria by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018 and accredited to 12 other countries within Central and Western Africa.

He collapsed at home and was pronounced dead at the hospital after this unfortunate incident,” Kenya said. “The country has lost a dedicated compatriot.”

The incident came as Nnamdi Kanu’s family and UK and Kenya lawyers were preparing to make Mr Machage testify in the Biafra separatist leader’s abduction case in Nairobi.

Justice Nyako fixed the date after counsel for Kanu, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as well as prosecution counsel, Shuaibu Labaran, had adopted arguments for and against the defendant’s preliminary objection.

Biafra: Fresh ‘evidence’ emerges in Nnamdi Kanu’s case

Prince Kanu Meme, one of the siblings of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday said there is “fresh evidence” in the trial of the agitator. Meme claimed that Kanu “is still technically in Kenya from the new evidence.”
