JAMB 2025 UTME Exam Dates Confirmed

JAMB has officially announced the dates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The examination is scheduled to start on Friday, 25 April 2025, and end on Monday, 5 May 2025.

Candidates are advised to keep these dates in mind and begin their final preparations accordingly. Ensure you have your JAMB registration slip printed and be aware of your exam centre, date, and time. The examination will be held in various accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria.

JAMB Releases Mock UTME Results

On Thursday, 10 April 2025, over 200,000 candidates registered for the 2025 JAMB Mock UTME. According to official reports, 126,181 candidates sat for the mock exam. The purpose of the mock exam is to help candidates familiarize themselves with the CBT format and reduce exam-day anxiety.

JAMB has now released the results for those who participated in the mock examination. Candidates can check their mock UTME results by sending MOCKRESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used for JAMB registration.

This result serves as a practice benchmark and does not affect the final UTME score.

How to Check JAMB Mock Result 2025 Online

Method 1: Via the Official JAMB Mock Result Portal

  1. Go to the official result checking portal: https://slipsprinting.jamb.gov.ng/CheckUTMEMockResults

Admission Policy Meeting Scheduled

JAMB has announced plans to convene its annual Admission Policy Meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This meeting will determine the national minimum cut-off marks for 2025 admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics.

This meeting is expected to bring together major education stakeholders and is aimed at standardizing the admission process. It will also guide institutions in setting their specific departmental and institutional cut-off marks based on JAMB’s framework.

The board emphasized that no institution is allowed to offer admission without participating in the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

JAMB Warns Institutions Against Illegal Admissions

As part of its regulatory duties, JAMB has issued a strong warning to newly established and recently upgraded tertiary institutions against carrying out unauthorized or illegal admissions. The board reminded all institutions that they must channel admissions through the JAMB CAPS platform to maintain transparency and accountability.

Any institution that admits students outside the CAPS system risks sanctions, including denial of recognition of those admissions.

According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, “We have seen several cases of unapproved admissions, and the board will not hesitate to take action against erring institutions.”

Federal Government Approves 67 New Higher Institutions

In another major development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of 67 new tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This includes new universities, colleges of education, and polytechnics. The JAMB Registrar has commended the initiative, noting that the expansion is essential in addressing the increasing demand for higher education in the country.

This approval aligns with the government’s plan to provide more access to education and create more opportunities for Nigerian youths seeking university admission.

JAMB Commences Accreditation of CBT Centres for UTME 2025

JAMB has begun the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres ahead of the UTME 2025 examination. Only centres that meet the board’s strict requirements will be approved to conduct the examination.

This process ensures that candidates take their exams in secure and well-equipped environments with adequate backup systems. Accredited CBT centres are expected to have functional computer systems, stable electricity, good internet connectivity, CCTV surveillance, and properly trained invigilators.

Candidates are strongly advised to avoid unaccredited centres or agents offering shortcuts or miracle centres.

Conclusion

With UTME 2025 around the corner, staying informed about the latest JAMB developments is essential for success. From confirmed examination dates to the release of mock results, policy updates, and CBT centre accreditation, JAMB is taking strategic steps to ensure a transparent and efficient examination process.

Whether you’re a first-time candidate or a returning applicant, it is crucial to stay vigilant, avoid misinformation, and make use of the official resources provided by JAMB. Remember, the key to success lies in early preparation, accurate information, and staying up to date with official guidelines.

Man Arrested After Disguising as Dispatch Rider to Murder Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.” Deborah’s sister described her as a hardworking interior decorator who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. On the night of the attack, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider in an attempt to infiltrate the estate. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
