JAMB Warns Against Multiple Registration For 2024 UTME
JAMB Issues Warning Against Multiple Registrations for 2024 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning regarding multiple registrations for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Mrs. Ville Pius, the Director of the Test Administration Department, conveyed the cautionary statement, emphasizing the strict prohibition of engaging in multiple registrations for the upcoming UTME.
Candidates are strongly advised against attempting to register more than once, as such actions may lead to identification, disqualification, and potential prosecution. Mrs. Ville Pius clarified that in case of any errors during the registration process, candidates should approach the Board for necessary corrections rather than opting for fresh application documents. Multiple registrations could result in the invalidation of their applications.
The statement underscores the importance of candidates thoroughly reading and understanding the registration guidelines, including the instructions provided in the Board’s registration advertisement. Adherence to these guidelines is crucial for the successful completion of the registration process.
Prospective candidates were reminded that, upon completing the registration, they would be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on compliance with ethical standards guiding their applications.
In addition, the Director issued a cautionary note, advising candidates against disclosing their security details, such as registration numbers, passwords, email addresses, and e-PINs, to third parties. It was emphasized that no examination center is authorized to request or accept candidates’ passwords, highlighting the need for candidates to safeguard their personal information diligently.
Candidates are encouraged to approach the registration process with full compliance to the guidelines to ensure a smooth and valid application for the 2024 UTME.
JAMB Direct Entry To Write Cognitive And Verbal Reasoning In 2024
JAMB Introduces Aptitude Test for Direct Entry Candidates Starting 2024
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant change for candidates taking the Direct Entry examination, starting from the year 2024. Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar, confirmed this development during a virtual meeting with Commissioners of Education from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a bulletin released by the Board, Prof. Oloyede highlighted that JAMB will be implementing an Aptitude Test for all Direct Entry candidates in 2024. This new test is designed to assess candidates’ academic potential, career suitability, and mental and physical capacity. Unlike traditional subject-based assessments, the aptitude test will specifically measure the cognitive skills of the candidates.
The Registrar outlined that the aptitude test will include sections such as Verbal, Abstract, Mechanical and Numeric Reasoning, Data Checking, and Work Sampling. Importantly, Direct Entry registration will now exclusively take place at JAMB Offices nationwide.
During the registration process, candidates are required to provide essential information, including the Registration/Matriculation Number from the previous school, qualification subjects, Awarding Institution, Institution attended, and the Year of graduation. Admission letters may also be required where applicable.
Verbal and numeric reasoning tests are valuable components of the aptitude test, providing insights into students’ cognitive abilities. Verbal reasoning assesses comprehension, analytical, and language skills, while numeric reasoning evaluates mathematical and analytical capabilities.
These new assessments aim to gauge candidates’ academic potential beyond their knowledge of specific subjects. By measuring general aptitude and problem-solving skills, the tests offer a broader understanding of candidates’ intellectual capabilities. This approach helps educators identify students who excel in logical and analytical thinking, valuable traits applicable in various academic disciplines and real-world scenarios.
JAMB Direct Entry Admission Guidelines 2024/2025
In this article, I will be discussing JAMB direct admission in Nigeria Universities. This is an attempt to let you know the requirements and the admission guidelines for you to secure your dream course and institution in Nigeria.
Firstly, I will give answers to some of the questions that applicants seeking admission through Direct entry do ask. And some of them are:
- What is direct entry admission?
- Does direct entry require jamb?
- Can I write Jamb and still collect Jamb Direct Entry at the same time
- Can I use awaiting result for direct entry?
- Does direct entry write post Utme?
- How to check direct entry admission status
JAMB Direct Entry is mainly for those that already possess a diploma certificate and wishes to go for a degree programme in the university. Normally, those who gained admission into the university via direct entry will start from part 2 or 200 level in their university of choice provided they were offered admission. This means, those that seek admission through this means are offered admission into 200 or 300 level depending on the school of your choice.
Does Direct Entry Require JAMB?
If you are seeking admission through DE, you don’t need to write JAMB UTME. The only thing you need is OND or HND or Cambridge A level or JUPEB result to qualify you for admission. However, you need to purchase Direct Entry form from JAMB to process your admission.
Said differently, Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is an exam meant to test applicants for 100 level admissions. For DE candidates, who are proposing 200 level admissions instead, they’re not to write JAMB exams.
Can I write Jamb and still collect Jamb DE at the same time?
Yes, you can write JAMB and still collect DE form. There is no law by the board forbidden DE candidates from collecting UTME form.
There is important information disclosed by the board to DE candidates. It reads “applicants can now “upgrade” their UTME forms to that of Direct Entry instead of purchasing the two forms if they equally have the qualifications for Direct Entry Admission into any of the universities.”
Can I use Awaiting Result for DE?
This depends on the University your Choice and the admission window. Some universities do accept awaiting result while some don’t. However, most schools will still accept awaiting result if the DE registration form hasn’t closed.
It is possible to purchase direct entry form and fill in awaiting result but you will have to get the result available before the registration for the school of your choice closes.
Does Direct Entry Write Post UTME?
The answer is Yes or No but depends on the school you choose. DE candidates do not write post utme is schools like UI, UNILAG, etc. while schools like FUTA do conduct post UTME for candidates applying through DE. The best thing is to search for the previous admission year of the school to get an idea whether you will write PUTME or not.
For example, you can search for ABU Zaria direct entry registration and exam date to check whether the school conduct PUTME for her DE applicants.
