1. FG Appeals to ASUU to Shelve Strike

The Federal Government Tertiary Institutions Expanded Negotiating Committee, led by Yayale Ahmed, is scheduled to meet ASUU to present the government’s offer, signaling progress in ongoing negotiations.

2. Christian Communities Under Attack – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the government to respond decisively to attacks on Christians across the country. President Archbishop Daniel Okoh emphasized that the loss of lives and destruction of places of worship, particularly in northern Nigeria, should not be reduced to mere statistics. CAN urged the government and security agencies to protect all citizens regardless of region or faith.

3. Police Suspend Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits

Following a court order, the Nigeria Police Force has suspended the nationwide enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permits. SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Command PRO, confirmed that enforcement is on hold pending legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with judicial directives.

4. PDP Reacts to Governors Allegedly Defecting to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling APC of coercing politicians into defection. National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba described the defections as driven by harassment and inducement. The claims follow a post by Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to late ex-President Buhari, alleging that governors from Taraba State and the North West are set to join APC.

5. NLC Condemns VP Shettima’s Dangote Remarks

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), criticized Vice President Kashim Shettima for labeling the Dangote Refinery a national asset, stressing that no company is above labor laws. He emphasized workers’ rights to freedom of association and union activities, while highlighting ongoing industrial disputes with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

6. Cooking Gas Scarcity to End by Weekend – NALPGAM

Oladapo Olatunbosun, President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM), assured Nigerians that the cooking gas shortage will clear by the weekend. The scarcity arose from the PENGASSAN strike, Dangote Refinery maintenance, and middlemen activities. Prices per kilogram are expected to remain below ₦1,300/kg.
