Federal Government’s vow to investigate Former Minister

In the latest development, Dr. Betta Edu, the present Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has announced the government’s intention to investigate the activities of the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq.

Transparency at the Forefront: Reviewing Previous Initiatives

During a recent interview, Minister Edu emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency, starting with a comprehensive review of the social register and other initiatives.

“We will embark on a thorough evaluation of the initiatives undertaken during the previous administration, carefully analyzing their successes, challenges, and financial management. Our primary objective is to tackle these challenges while working towards strengthening and expanding our nation’s social safety net,” she stated emphatically.

Drawing from the Past: The Role of Historical Insights

Edu underscored the vital role of historical insights in shaping current and future decisions, stating, “History provides invaluable guidance that shapes our current and future choices. Delving into past records holds paramount importance.”

Meticulous Approach to the Social Register

Addressing the social register, Edu elaborated, “We will meticulously revisit the register, ensuring precise identification of intended beneficiaries. Recognizing the contributions of the World Bank and the Office of the National Safety Net, we must critically evaluate our actions, as Nigerians are closely observing. Accountability is an unwavering requirement.”

Commitment to Assistance: President Tinubu’s Vision

Revealing further insights, she conveyed, “President Bola Tinubu is resolute in directing assistance to those genuinely in need. Given concerns raised by certain governors, this approach is both necessary and apt.”

Verification and Collaboration: Building an Accurate Social Register

Edu emphasized the importance of verification and collaboration in compiling an accurate social register: “Individuals not meeting the established criteria will be removed from the register. Those who genuinely meet the criteria for financial assistance will be included. Our aim is to ensure inclusivity. Collaborating with state and local governments is vital in compiling an accurate social register for our nation.”

Swift Action: Clearing Backlog Stipends for Npower Beneficiaries

Within a remarkably short span of 80 hours since taking office, the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has initiated swift action to expedite the payment of backlog stipends to Batch C2 Npower beneficiaries.

Aligned with the President’s Vision: Lifting Millions out of Poverty

This move aligns with President Tinubu’s ambitious goal to elevate 136 million impoverished Nigerians through the Federal Government’s poverty alleviation program.

Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

Betta, who officially assumed her duties on Monday and was sworn in on the same day, had earlier assured Nigerians of her unwavering commitment to transparency, sincerity, and accountability in her role as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Overdue Relief: Backlog Stipends Reaching Beneficiaries

Late into Wednesday night, a notable number of Batch C2 Npower beneficiaries confirmed the long-awaited receipt of multiple credit alerts for their overdue backlog stipends.

Ongoing Concerns: Addressing Delays and Expectations

It’s important to recall that the 490,000 Batch C2 Npower beneficiaries, who became part of the Federal Government’s Npower Programme on October 4, 2022, have been awaiting their complete stipends for three months within the one-year program, which concludes next month.

A Bold Priority: Clearing the Backlog Stipends

The issue of delayed Batch C2 Backlog Stipend Payment has been a source of contention within the Npower Programme, with recurring delays attributed to governmental transitions, funding constraints, and the anticipation of a new Minister.

An Encouraging Step: Beneficiaries’ Reaction and Expectations

The rapid action taken by the new Minister to address the backlog stipends within less than a week of assuming office has been met with applause from beneficiaries, who have taken to social media platforms to express their joy and appreciation.

The Path Forward: Establishing Payment Database for Efficiency

At present, the backlog stipends for October, November, and December 2022 are in the process of being disbursed. However, payments for January, February, March, April, May, June, and July 2023, as well as Batch C1 benevolent packages, are still pending.

Achieving Equitable Payments: Utilizing 2022 Stipends as Key

The stipends for the initial three months of 2022 play a pivotal role in creating a payment database that will streamline the disbursement of backlog stipends for 2023. This initiative aims to ensure uniformity among beneficiaries and eliminate delays or accumulations in future payments.

Awaiting Relief: Patience as Credits are Processed

The Batch C2 Npower beneficiaries are urged to exercise patience as their bank accounts are being credited, marking the end of their prolonged wait for relief.
