Latest NPower News Today 1st July 2023

In the latest Npower news for today Saturday 1st July  2023, we will address the pressing need for utilizing the Npower and other NSIP programs to alleviate the impact of poverty during President Tinubu’s administration. Over the past six months of this year, an alarming number of 4 million Nigerians have fallen below the poverty line.

Previously, the Npower program and other NSIP initiatives were implemented during the Buhari administration to combat poverty. However, the beneficiaries of Npower batch C have not received their allowances for the past six months.

The World Bank has verified that within a span of six months, approximately 4 million Nigerians have been plunged into poverty, highlighting the urgent requirement for an intervention to mitigate the hardships they face.

During President Buhari’s tenure, the N-power program and other National Social Intervention Programs were launched with the objective of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within a decade. This led to the enactment of the NSIP bill, which was approved by former President Buhari. For further details, refer to the article “Senate Passes President Buhari Npower/ NSIP Program Bill.”

Now, under President Tinubu’s administration, it is crucial to enhance these NSIP programs to elevate a greater number of Nigerians out of poverty. Additionally, the Npower program should be integrated into the plan of creating 1 million jobs annually in the digital economy, where the Npower non-graduate program plays a significant role.

Resuming the payment of Npower and other NSIP beneficiaries is of utmost importance, as it will alleviate the hardships caused by the removal of subsidies and provide necessary support during these challenging times.

Latest Updates on Npower Stipend Payments and NASIMS News

The Npower management, Nasims, has provided the latest update on the payment of stipends for Npower Batch C beneficiaries. They have clarified that the approval for the new payment is still pending.

The current approved payment is specifically for the backlog of unpaid stipends from 2022 for Npower Batch C beneficiaries.

Nasims has assured that once the new payment is approved, it will be initiated without any delays. It is important to note that beneficiaries are owed five months’ worth of stipend payment in the year 2023.

At present, Npower is in the process of enrolling more preselected applicants. These applicants are being invited to validate their accounts to be included as beneficiaries.

The payment process for Npower beneficiaries who have successfully validated their accounts through the provided validation link is underway. Many beneficiaries have confirmed receiving their backlog payments today.

Furthermore, there have been rumors in the media about the suspension of payments to vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers by the Federal Government until further notice. However, it is important to note that salaries and pensions are not affected by this decision.

NASIMS has taken steps to engage and include additional Npower Batch C applicants in the Npower Batch C2 Program. Selected applicants have been sent text messages requesting confirmation of their status and validation of their Npower records through the Npower Account Validation Form.
