Adamu Chased Journalists From APC National Secretariat : The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu on Monday chased journalists out of the party’s headquarters.
The reporters who were tired of waiting for their accreditation were chased out of the secretariat by stern-looking security operatives on the order of the APC Chairman.
One of the operatives disclosed that Adamu asked them to clear out the premises because he was planning to ‘host an important meeting and won’t like to see journalists hanging around when he returns.’
The incident, which happened around 7:30 pm on Monday night almost resulted in a stampede as journalists were seen rushing to pack their belongings.
Earlier, Adamu had caused a stir when he announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party consensus presidential candidate after due consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, President Buhari denied the claim during a meeting with APC Governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The President said he was yet to agree on a particular aspirant.
The announcement was also denied by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party as well as the Northern Governors elected on the APC platform.
Hours later, Adamu went incognito after chasing journalists of the APC national secretariat and fled from the APC Governors who came to see him.
The APC Chairman was not at the office when the governors arrived to hold a meeting with him over unresolved issues dogging the convention.
The governors, however, trailed Adamu to his residence to clear the air after unilaterally declaring Lawan as the party consensus presidential candidate.
