Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, and Justin Bieber were the biggest winners at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.

The awards show took place on Sunday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, honoring the best videos the past year have had to offer.

And it was Lil Nas X who came out on top, winning the coveted video of the year award for Montero (Call Me By Your Name).

The rapper beat Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP, Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits, Doja Cat ft SZA’s Kiss Me More, DJ Khaled and Drake’s Popstar, and The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears to take the prize for his instantly iconic video, which sees him pole-dancing into hell and giving Satan a lapdance.

Amazingly, the first thing on his thank-you list was ‘the gay agenda’ – mocking critics who think celebrating his sexuality in music is pushing a so-called gay agenda.

Accepting his award, the 22-year-old said: ‘First, I want to say thank you to the gay agenda! Let’s go, gay agenda!’

After thanking his team and urging fans to buy his album when it drops this month, Lil Nas X added: ‘I love you guys so much, I do not take this for granted.’
