List of Executive Orders Trump Signed on His First Day as US President
Donald Trump begins his second term as U.S. President by signing major executive orders on immigration, energy, and social policies.

GoldenNewsNg reports that Donald Trump, now inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, wasted no time in taking action. Shortly after being sworn in, he signed a series of executive orders, actions, and memorandums addressing a range of domestic and international matters. Several of these measures reinstated policies from his first term that had been reversed during Joe Biden’s administration.

Here’s a breakdown of the key decisions Trump has made so far.

Immigration Policies

Trump has made immigration a big focus of his second term. Here are the steps he’s taken so far:

  1. National Emergency at the Border
Declared an emergency to address challenges at the southern border.
  2. Ending Birthright Citizenship
Proposed changes to citizenship rules for children born to undocumented immigrants.
  3. Suspension of Refugee Resettlement
Paused the U.S. refugee program for four months.
  4. Military Deployment at the Border
Ordered the military to secure the southern border, citing crime and smuggling concerns.
  5. Terrorist Designation for Gangs and Cartels
Named international gangs, like MS-13, as terrorist organizations.
  6. Resume Border Wall Construction
Restarted building barriers at the southern border.
  7. ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy Returns
Revived the rule requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their cases.
  8. End of Biden-Era Migration Policies
Shut down programs allowing migrants from select countries to enter legally.
  9. Death Penalty for Capital Crimes
Reinstated the death penalty for undocumented immigrants convicted of certain crimes.
  10. End of ‘Catch and Release’
Migrants awaiting hearings must stay in custody.

Government and Technology

Trump’s actions on government reform and technology include:

  1. TikTok Ban Delayed
Pushed back the deadline for banning TikTok while looking for a U.S.-based buyer.
  2. Creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge)
Announced a new advisory body, led by Elon Musk, to reduce government spending.
  3. Hiring Freeze
Stopped most federal hiring except for military and key positions.
  4. Federal Employees Back in Offices
Required federal workers to return to in-person jobs.
  5. Investigations into Political Censorship
Ordered reviews of alleged censorship during Biden’s term.

Energy and Climate

Trump focused on boosting traditional energy sources by:

  1. Withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement
Began the process of pulling out of the agreement again.
  2. Declaring a National Energy Emergency
Shifted focus to fossil fuel production.
  3. Ending Green Energy Programs
Cut funding for wind farms, electric vehicles, and other clean energy initiatives.

Social Policies

Some of Trump’s orders target cultural and social issues:

  1. Official Recognition of Two Genders
Declared that the U.S. would only recognize male and female genders.
  2. End of Federal Diversity Programs
Shut down all diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in federal agencies.

Foreign Affairs

Trump’s actions abroad reflect his “America First” approach:

  1. Pause on Foreign Aid
Ordered a review of foreign assistance programs.
  2. Sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela
Put Cuba back on the terrorism sponsor list and tightened sanctions on Venezuela.

Symbolic Actions

Trump also made symbolic gestures, including:

  1. Renaming the Gulf of Mexico
Ordered it to be called the “Gulf of America.”
  2. Restoring Mount McKinley’s Name
Changed Denali’s name back to honor President William McKinley.

Pardons for Capitol Rioters

One of Trump’s first major moves was pardoning nearly 1,600 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riots. These people had been jailed for their role in the unrest during Biden’s election certification.

What’s Next for Trump’s Presidency?

Trump’s second term is shaping up to be just as active as his first. His early moves signal a return to policies that resonate with his supporters while drawing criticism from others.
