Agencies of government are created to help in the implementation of government policies. They handle a different aspect of the implementation of government policies and they are accountable to the government.
Federal government agencies are often headed by director generals who spearhead the major projects of the agencies working with the budgets provided for in the annual national budgets execute their mandates.
They are over 500 federal government agencies in Nigeria and many of them are still obscure. Only a few of them are widely known among members of the public that they were created to serve

National Horticultural Research Institute
This agency is concerned with the growth of trees for various purposes. It also regulates the felling of trees across the country. It is popular for championing the fight against desertification in many states in the northern part of Nigeria.

This agency especially monitors all public assets in the country and protects them from exploitation.

It monitors and investigates purchases done by all other parts of government and agencies to ensure transparency and rule of law.
Central Bank of Nigeria
CBN is the banker’s bank, the chief regulator of all financial institutions in Nigeria.
