Liverpool Punish Ten Man Chelsea

Liverpool produced a dominant display as they dispatched ten man Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge with Sadio Mane grabbing both goals.

Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen saw red in first half stoppage time while goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s error resulted in the second goal.

Frank Lampard’s side spent more than £200m in the transfer market to try and close the 33 points gap on Liverpool, but on the evidence of today’s performance alot still need to be done if they are to get anywhere near this well drilled Liverpool machine.

Christensen’s sending off though certainly played a pivotal role in the outcome of the match it must be said.

Liverpool brought in new signing Thiago at halftime and were ahead 10 minutes later when Mane headed in Roberto Firmino’s cross.

Four minutes later, they doubled their lead when the Senegalese chased down Kepa’s casual pass out from the back.

Chelsea’s new boy Timo Werner was brought down for a penalty which Jorginho scuffed, as Liverpool put down a marker for the rest of the league.
