The Npower and other NSIP Programs were launched in 2016 under the direction of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. The plan was to create jobs and to lift 100million people out of poverty in 10 years.
In view of the aforementioned, a new ministry, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster management and social development was founded to handle the NSIP programme and other associated programmes headed by HM Sadiya Umar Farouq. And the Minister has been in charge over since till today.
Now that a new administration has been chosen through the recently completed 2023 presidential elections, Mr. President has inaugurated a Transition Council and put it into effect with Executive Order No. 14 of 2023 in order to institutionalize a legal framework that would permit a smooth transfer of power.
A Handing Over Notes, Collation and Transition Committee has been established by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in accordance with a directive from the Presidential Transition Council.
It has become necessary for the Ministry to establish a Ministerial Committee for the collection and development of the Handing Over Notes for the entire humanitarian sector and to develop a Transition Plan to enable the Ministry to interface with the Presidential Transition Council, which will be taking place rather soon.
According to the ministry, the commission will ensure the compilation and harmonization of handover protocols for all departments, agencies and programs under the ministry’s supervision, with an approved template.
