Over 100 musical entertainers and comedians within and outside Nigeria were in Minna, the Niger state capital to showcase their prowess to the admiration of thousands of spectators over the weekend.
The programme tagged WICKED GENERATION 6 which was organized by the President, Niger state Comedians and MCs Association of Nigeria (COMAN), Bernard Okoroafor Popularly known as Amshy witnessed unprecedented crowd.
Speaking to Journalists at the venue during the weekend, Okoroafor pointed out that the idea behind the event is to ignite Minna into a full blown entertainment City and erase the notion in some quarters that Niger is a Sharia State thereby forcing people to travel to Abuja or Kaduna to have fun.
According to him “many people feel that Minna and indeed Niger State is left behind in terms of entertainment, but as it is presently, we are beginning to rub shoulders with other States, individuals and Corporate organizations have witnessed efforts in the entertainment industry and that is why they threw their support and we are having a massive improvement this year.
“Government at all levels especially State government needs to key into this industry because it’s improves Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the petty traders also can also benefit.
“As it is today, for the fact that it improves the socio economic status of every State, today we have over 100 participants from outside Minna who are lodged in various Hotels, they visit restaurant to eat. Even for the transportation sector, vehicles like Tricycle popularly called Keke made alot of gains.”
Furthermore, Okoroafor disclosed that inspite of the constraints encountered in the previous Editions, that there is great improvement this year.
Comedians and musicians that sparked the ceremony include MC Miracle, Wally Baba, Ambassador Wahala, Captain Silva Dee, Tony Power, MC Bless and Megoro, while Musicians at the venue are, Beejay Da Boss, Sugar Boy Rayce, Lizzy Laphael, Alhaji Tuclint as well as Ojcent among others.
