Former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Tavoro Nyame, expressed the valuable insights gained during his time in imprisonment at the Kuje correctional center and hospital. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Jalingo, he pledged his commitment to becoming a more capable leader if given a second chance to lead the state.
Nyame stated that the experience had imparted invaluable lessons, molding him into a better potential leader for the people of Taraba State. He affirmed, “I learnt a lot while in Kuje Prison and in the hospital. If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained.”
Highlighting the importance of faith and resilience, he advised leaders to stand strong in the face of challenges. Despite serving only four years of a 14-year sentence, Nyame asserted that his imprisonment was politically motivated.
During his personal reflections, Nyame conveyed a message of hope and unity for Nigerians, emphasizing the crucial role of prayer and faith in the nation’s future. In addition to sharing his journey, he urged Nigerians to exercise prudence in their expenses and called on the government to prioritize policies that enhance citizens’ lives.
The State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Isaiah Magaji Jirapiye, commended Nyame’s narrative and commitment to personal growth, considering them sources of inspiration for those facing challenges. He emphasized the potential for reflection, growth, and positive change, even in difficult times.
