…. Queries N10billion spent on Pensioners, N1.2billion on covid-19
The Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) in Niger State, has on Tuesday called for an independent audit of the over N5billion expended claim on the Internally displaced persons (IDPs) by the Niger State Government.
The PDP also demanded for an audit on billions of Naira claimed to have been earmarked for Pensioners and against the Coronavirus pandemic and many others by the State Government.
In statement signed by its Chairman Barrister Tanko Beji and made available to Journalists, the PDP maintain that it is questionable for such amount as N5billion to have been expended when in truth most IDPs can hardly eat a single ration of food.
According to Beji “for God sake, N5billion is not 5 Million! Could it be that the APC led administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is trying hard to balance its accounts?
“We are calling for an independent Audit of the N5billion expenditure on IDPs and other such figures like the N10billion on pension, N1.2billion on Covid-19 and many more.
It will be recalled that even when IDPs thronged into the state capital most of them didn’t stay up to five (5) days.
Beji added that “the PDP wishes to call on the Niger State Government to come out clean, apologize for its years of failure and quietly walk away in 2023 as it is glaring that after 6 years and a budget of over N800billion there is nothing on ground to show that APC ever came on board in Niger State”.
He further stated that, “this could be the reason the APC led Government of Governor Sani Bello is now sweating tooth and nail to balance its irreconcilable accounts by robbing John to pay Paul”.
