Naomi Osaka Pulls Out Of French Open

Fresh from winning the US Open, Naomi Osaka has pulled out of the French Open after suffering a hamstring injury.

The Japanese player won her second US Open over the weekend and had been scheduled to appear at the tournament beginning on September 27 in Paris.

The 22 year old posted a statement on Twitter saying, “Unfortunately I won’t be able to play at the French Open.

“My hamstring is still sore so I won’t have enough time to prepare for the clay – These two tournaments came too close to each other for me.”

Osaka who is currently the World No. 3, had her left hamstring wrapped in tape when she defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final of the US Open.defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final of the US Open.

The French Open is scheduled to run from Sept 27 – Oct 11 after being moved from its usual late May – June slot because of the coronavirus pandemic.
