… as thugs abduct Party Officials
Following the irregularities that marred the primaries, a House of Representatives Aspirant for Lapai/Agaie Federal Constituency under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi on Saturday narrowly escaped ambush by suspected assassins around Kutriko community in Agaie Local government area of Niger state.
It was reliably gathered that the suspected assassins ambushed him and his supporters in the area while coming back from Agaie about 2am yesterday (Saturday) Goodwhere the primary of the federal constituency was earlier put off for alleged irregularities.
It should be noted that officials of the party had announced the shifting of the primary after violence and some irregularities were noticed as indicated by police report.
Consequently the Aspirant; a former chief Press Secretary to Former late Governor Abdulkadir Kure decided to take the short cut to link Minna but was ambushed by some men suspected to be working for his opponent.
It was learnt that some of the men carried dangerous weapons but Alhaji Mahmud was able to escape with some of his supporters through the bush path.
A Supporter of the Aspirant who was in retinue Saidu Aliyu Confirmed that “some of us left behind were molested and injured, we had to rush some people to the hospital”.
He said five party officials who were at Agaie to conduct the primary were held hostage and were forced to sign the result shit in favour of the suspected assassins’ Aspirant.
