WHAT IS NDLEA?
NDLEA stands for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, which is a Nigerian federal agency responsible for combating drug trafficking and abuse in the country. The agency was established in 1989, under the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, which empowers it to enforce drug laws, investigate drug-related offenses, arrest and prosecute drug offenders, and seize illicit drugs and assets related to drug trafficking.
The NDLEA works in collaboration with other government agencies, including the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Police Force, and international law enforcement agencies, to prevent the illicit trafficking and use of drugs in Nigeria. The agency also engages in public education and sensitization programs to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of drug-free living.
