NELFUND Begins Disbursement of Funds to Students in Saapade, MAPOLY, and LASUED

GoldenNewsNg reports that the Federal Government has announced the disbursement of educational support funds to students across several tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This latest phase of funding reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to making higher education more accessible and financially sustainable for students nationwide.

According to the official update, significant amounts have been released to students in The Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic, Saapade, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), and the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Oto/Ijanikin.

  • Batch 3 Payment: ₦17,480,000 disbursed to 117 students

The disbursement to students of The Gateway Polytechnic is intended to ease the financial burden on learners enrolled in technical and vocational education programmes.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY)

  • Total Disbursed: ₦47,038,000 to 356 students

This allocation supports students in various academic disciplines at MAPOLY, enabling them to continue their studies without the interruption of financial constraints.

Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Oto/Ijanikin

  • Total Disbursed: ₦230,050,000 to 2,150 students

LASUED received the largest disbursement in this round, underscoring the priority placed on training future educators. The funds will support students’ tuition, learning resources, and other educational expenses.

Advancing Access to Education Through Strategic Funding

The disbursement is part of a broader initiative by the Federal Government to improve access to quality education and empower Nigerian youths. Through targeted funding, the government seeks to reduce drop-out rates and improve educational outcomes across tertiary institutions.

This initiative highlights the importance of investing in human capital and supporting students in critical fields such as education, engineering, ICT, and entrepreneurship.

Next Steps for Beneficiaries

Students who have received payment notifications are advised to:

  • Confirm receipt through their respective financial institutions.

  • Contact their institution’s bursary department or student affairs office for verification and record-keeping.

  • Follow official updates from their institutions and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development for subsequent announcements.
