The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commenced the disbursement of upkeep allowances to students who have updated their bank account information from digital-only wallet platforms to traditional commercial banks.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, who described the development as a significant step forward in addressing previous disbursement challenges.

According to Oluwatuyi, over 3,600 students who initially registered with digital banking platforms have now successfully received their backlog of upkeep payments after updating their account details via the NELFUND portal.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all affected students during this period. Your resilience and cooperation have made this progress possible,” she said.

Next Steps for Students: Yet to Update Details

Mrs. Oluwatuyi advised students who have not yet updated their bank information to raise a support ticket through the official NELFUND portal to request access to update their account details.

She also encouraged affected students to report through their institution’s IT department, which will compile and forward all unresolved cases to NELFUND for prompt attention.

“NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind. This resolution process is part of our broader effort to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and student-centred delivery of our support services,” she added.

Stay Connected with Official Channels

Oluwatuyi urged students to engage only through verified NELFUND channels and to support fellow students who may require assistance with the update process.

Students can contact NELFUND through its official email at info@nelf.gov.ng or by visiting its verified social media platforms.
