The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the reopening of its student loan portal for just 48 hours, giving tertiary institutions a final opportunity to complete their student verification exercise.
This was contained in a statement released in Abuja on Friday by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.
According to the statement, the portal will be open from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Oluwatuyi explained that the brief reopening is to ensure all eligible students are duly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.
“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” Oluwatuyi said.
She cautioned that any institution that fails to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will forfeit participation in the current loan cycle, which would disadvantage their students who are the intended beneficiaries of the scheme.
In the spirit of transparency, Oluwatuyi noted that the list of defaulting institutions will be published after the window closes.
She reaffirmed NELFUND’s commitment to equitable access to higher education through transparent and inclusive management of the national student loan scheme.
