Niger State House of Assembly has on Tuesday commenced the screening of commissioner nominees.
Governor Umar Bago had last month submitted a list of 30 commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as members of the State Executive Council.
GoldenNews Online report that, shortly after plenary commenced, the House dissolved into committee of the whole to screen the nominees.
The fifteen commissioner nominees who appeared to be screened were asked to take a bow after reading out their resumes.
Those screened included Hon. Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo (Lapai), Musa Bawa (Bosso), Yahaya Ibrahim Gulbin-Boka (Mariga), RTD Gen. Garba A. Mohammed (Again), Barr. Nasir Mu’azu (Chanchaga), Hon. Phala Mohammed Bako (Kontagora 1) Suleiman Umar (Bida 1), Mourice Magaji (Munya)
Others are Hon. Abubakar Umar (Mashegu), Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed (Bida 2), Yakubu Alhassan Gwagwa (Suleja), Hajiya Titi Auta (Agwara), Yakubu Kolo (Edati), Hon. Binta Mamman (Gurara) and Dr. Bello Tukur (Rijau).
Some of the commissioner nominees who spoke with newsmen after the screening exercise thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve and promised to contribute their quota to the development of the state.
The remaining commissioner nominees will be screened today (Wednesday).
