Niger govt releases 5-day schedule of activities for May 29th inauguration

Niger State Government has released a 5-day programme of events for the inauguration of the sixth executive Governor of the state, Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago and his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba for a first term in office.

It stated this in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, saying that the 5-day events will hold from May 24th to May 29th, 2023 with the exception of May 27th which is the Children’s Day.

Matane further explained that the inauguration programme will commence with Valedictory State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, 24th May by 11:00 am, highlighting that it will be followed on Thursday 25th May, by Inaugural Lecture by 10:00am and Handover of Transition Documents by 2:00pm at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna and Council Chamber, Government House, Minna respectively.

The statement stated further that Special Jumma’at Prayers will hold at the Central Mosque, Minna by 2:00pm on 26th May while Special Church Service is to take place on the 28th May at the ECWA Goodnews Church, behind Kure Market, Minna by 10;00am, stressing that there will be Special Polo Tournament at the Minna Polo Ground by 4:00pm and Pre-inauguration Dinner to hold at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna by 7:00pm on the same Sunday, 28th May.

According to the SSG, “the Inauguration Parade/Swearing-in ceremony of the Sixth Executive Governor will take place at the International Trade Fair Complex, Minna, dignitaries are to be seated by 9:00am” .

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane stressed that there will be a Post Inauguration Luncheon by 2:00pm at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna.
