Supporters and People’s Democratic Party PDP faithfuls on Thursday thronged the State party secretariat chanting songs of victory following the dismissal of a suit filed against the winner of the PDP primaries, Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi.
Golden News report that, a Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Thursday dismissed a suit filed by Hon. Sani Idris Kutigi against Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi.
While speaking with selected Journalists, the Director of Communications, PDP Campaign Council, Niger State, Usman Mohammad Yahaya said “this calls for jubilation, as you know, the PDP is waxing stronger and we will now focus on unseating the All Progressives Congress APC together as one family”.
It should be noted that Kutigi who lost to Kantigi, filed the suit seeking disqualification of Kantigi as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 elections at the Federal Court 4, Abuja, claiming he (Kantigi) did not indicate “disability” in his form.
However, the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Zaynab Mohammed according to Usman Mohammed held that Hon. Sani Idris Kutigi had no cause of action and so, therefore, the case was “dismissed”.
At the Primaries which held on May 26, 2022, Kantigi polled 667 out of 808 votes defeating four other aspirants to clinch the party’s ticket.
The other aspirants were his close rival, Sani Idris Kutigi who polled 114 votes, Abubakar Isah Jankara and Barrister Abdulrahman Gimba polled 21 votes and three votes respectively while Alh Sidi Abdul Gulu had no vote.
