Niger state Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Danmamman has called on religious bodies in the state to be security conscious and ensure they re-beef up security in their places of worship.

He made the call on Friday when the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger state chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna and his executive members paid him a courtesy visit at the Command’s headquarters in Minna.

CP DanMamman while disclosing that there is relative peace as a result of government’s effort and the tireless work by the security agencies urged churches to take the issue of security very seriously.

Accordingly, he said “we must remain vigilant and very sensitive because of the challenges even though we are enjoying relative peace in Niger state.

“We know that, places of worship are places of interest for criminals; we must not be carried away by the seemingly peace we are currently enjoying. There is the need to be proactive. I encourage all religious bodies to go back to the use of gadgets like metal detector and scanners because they to an extent guarantee safety.”

While calling for more prayers for officers and men of the Force, he advised that, all houses, places of worship and businesses should henceforth have security lights in their premises so that they can be lit up especially at night.
