Okorocha React As Panel Uncovers ₦106b contracts Scam Awarded By His Administration

The Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has reacted to the report that his administration between 2011 and 2019 awarded fraudulent contracts worth ₦106 billion.

Speaking on the reports that the Imo State Judicial Commission of Enquiry chaired by Justice Benjamin Iheaka (rtd), Okorocha said he spent the state’s funds on a myriad of verifiable projects scattered around the state.

 

Buhari Writes NASS, To Present 2021 Budget On Thursday

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday, 8th October 2020, present the proposed 2021 budget figures to a joint sitting of the National Assembly.

This was confirmed in his letter of request to the lawmakers which was read on Tuesday during plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, in Abuja. Read more details here

Nigeria Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, disclosed that millions of Nigerians are living in poverty.

He further stated that the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country has worsened the unemployment and poverty rate in the nation.

 

Federal Government Begins Investigation Over Stolen N2.67bn School Feeding Fund
The Federal Government of Nigeria has kick-started a probe into how N2.67 billion disbursed for meal subsidies in the 104 Unity Schools during COVID-19 found its way into private accounts.

GoldenNewsNg  recalls that the chairman of the ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, on Monday 28th of October 2020 gave the revelation at the Presidency in Abuja that large sums of money had been diverted and found in the bank accounts of some government employees.

 

Police To Arraign Ex Imo Governor Ohakim For Defrauding Lover

The Nigerian Police has filed three criminal charges against a former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

In the charge marked CR/993/2020 and dated September 23, 2020, the office of the Inspector-General of Police accused Ohakim of fraud and false information.

 

Covid-19 School Funds Found in Personal Acc To Be Investigated – FG

The Nigeria government has ordered an investigation into claims by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offenses Commission ICPC, that N2.67bn meant for feeding school pupils during the Covid-19 lockdown were found in the account of private individuals.

Ozil to pay the Salary of laid off Arsenal Mascot

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has offered to pay the salary of Jerry Quy, the man who plays the role of club mascot Gunnersaurus.

On Monday, the Gunners announced that Quy, who has been part of the matchday experience at Arsenal for 27 years, was one of 55 redundancies.

“I was so sad that Jerry Quy, aka our famous and loyal mascot Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club, was being made redundant after 27 years,” said the 31-year-old German in a post on Twitter.  Read more details here

Kepa promises to take back his number 1 spot at Chelsea

Kepa Arrizabalaga says losing his first-team place at Chelsea is “not a dream situation” but he is “confident” of turning things around.

Spain international Kepa, 26, who is the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, joined the Premier League club from Athletic Bilbao for £71m in 2018.
