The Nigerian Armed force on Friday invalidated claims that the snatched female military official was protected by the police.
Goldennewsng reports that Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female military official, was kidnapped by obscure shooters on December 26, 2022, while visiting her grandma, in Aku-Okigwe in Imo State.
A voice in the background urged all Igbo members of the Nigerian Army to resign or face imminent abduction in the viral video of her abduction and torture.
However, it was reported that the abducted female officer had been rescued by the Nigeria Police Force after a few hours.
However, a Director of the Army’s Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated in a statement on Friday that there has not yet been a rescue because search efforts are already underway.
“Some publications circulating on social media insinuating the rescue of Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female officer who was abducted on Monday, December 26, 2022, while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo state, shortly after completion of her Cadet training and subsequent commissioning as a Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army,” the Nigerian Army (NA) said. “The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to these publications.”
He says that the actions of these heartless people should make it abundantly clear to anyone who is still unsure of the true status of these groups: IPOB/ESN are terrorists who pretend to be freedom fighters and do not deserve anyone’s support, especially the good people of South East Nigeria.
Because the officer has not yet been freed or rescued from her abductors, he stated, the Nigerian Army noted that the information being circulated is unsubstantiated.
He stated that the video footage associated with the rescue claim is an older video of troops arresting a suspect earlier. He also stated that the information regarding the officer’s rescue did not originate from the NA.
The statement said that the NA would do everything in its power to bring the perpetrators to justice, pleading with members of the public with useful information about her location to provide it.
