Nigerian Navy Opens Applications for Direct Short Service Commission Course 29, continue reading to see eligibility, requirement and more. 

The Nigerian Navy has officially announced the commencement of online registration for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various positions. The application period spans from December 27, 2023, to February 7, 2024. This opportunity is aimed at recruiting qualified individuals into the Nigerian Navy through the DSSC program.

  1. Medical Fields: The Navy is seeking qualified professionals in various medical fields, including Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, Pharmacists, Medical Lab Scientists, Physiotherapists, Radiographers, Optometrists, and more.
  2. Engineering: Candidates with qualifications in Control Engineering, Naval Architecture/Ship Design, Marine Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical), and Mechatronics Engineering are encouraged to apply.
  3. Information and Communication Technology: Individuals with degrees in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, specializing in areas such as Networking, Programming, Software Development, Cyber Security, and more are invited to apply.
  4. Legal Service: Aspiring Legal Service officers must hold LLB and BL degrees, with additional consideration given to those with an LLM in International Maritime Law, International Law, or Forensic Law.

General Information for Candidates:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, and false information is strongly discouraged.
  • Minimum educational requirements include Second Class Upper Division for first-degree holders and Upper Credit for HND holders.
  • Computer literacy is an added advantage.
  • Certificates must be fully registered with relevant professional bodies, and foreign credentials should be authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Education.
  • NYSC discharge or exemption is mandatory.
  • Age requirements are between 22 and 28 years old, not exceeding 30 for Medical Officers.
  • Height requirements are 1.68 meters for males and 1.65 meters for females.
