Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

4. The 44 worshippers abducted from a mosque in Zamfara community last Friday have been subjected to physical labour on armed men’s farmlands. Residents revealed that the bandits had called to tell relatives that the captives were with them and working on their millet and sorghum plantations but had yet to demand ransom.

5. The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako yesterday resigned. Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information made the announcement in a statement on Monday. Salako leaves the position after multiple building collapses in Nigeria’s commercial hub in the last few years.

It also said it had not reached an agreement with the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

7. Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, on Monday, said the allegation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, linking him to the ownership of 14 assets, including shopping mall, residential estate, polo playground, lands and farmland, was untrue. Kyari in a statement by his lawyer, Hamza Dan Tani, said the reports were orchestrated by the NDLEA to further tarnish his image.

8. Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two women for allegedly operating a baby factory in Agbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the State. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, said the suspects, Christiana Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, were arrested on August 27, 2022, following information received by the police.

9. A commercial bus driver, Salvation Harry, has been killed by gunmen who ambushed him and his passengers around the Abonema/Degema/EmuohaEmuoha/Kalabari area of the East-West Road in Rivers State.
