On Tuesday in Washington, United States, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, cautioned that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, may face charges of treason due to their comments regarding the February 25 presidential election, according to a statement released by the Federal Government. - On Tuesday, the Rivers State Police Command called in Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate for governorship, to be interrogated about the death of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporter who was reportedly shot during a protest in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has reiterated its warning that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) must provide adequate cash within two weeks, or face the picketing of its offices. The NLC emphasized that there is still a low circulation of cash throughout Nigeria. It should be recalled that the NLC had previously suspended its plan to picket CBN state offices nationwide due to the shortage of naira notes.

The Federal Government’s accusation of treason against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election, has been supported by the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to report gathered, Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, alleged that Obi had encouraged Nigerians to engage in violent acts in response to the outcome of the presidential election.
- Sowore Discloses Reason Lai Mohammed Is Harassing Peter ObiOmoyole Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has revealed the motive behind the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed’s attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).Sowore, who is the AAC flag bearer, claimed that Mohammed’s aggression towards Obi is due to the LP candidate’s perceived weakness and inability to fight for revolutionary causes.
In response to Mohammed’s accusation of treason against Obi, Sowore dismissed the claim as a baseless and exaggerated allegation.
Speaking via Twitter he wrote, In a series of tweets, Sowore wrote: “I am clear about these issues even though I stringently continue to state that @PeterObi and his @NgLabour are not different from his @OfficialAPCNg and @OfficialPDPNig uncles.
“However, shameless Lai Mohammed and @NGRPresident claims that protected speech and lawful protests against fraudulent election amounts to “Treason” is a hoax and fallacy carried too far.
LP Replies FG Over Treason Allegation Against Peter Obi
The allegation made by the Federal Government that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, incited violence among Nigerians regarding the outcome of the presidential election has been denied by the party. Naija News reported that the party responded to the accusation made by Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, during an interview with international media outlets on the recently concluded 2023 election. Mohammed accused Obi of inciting violence while seeking redress in court over the election’s outcome. In a statement released on Tuesday, the LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, emphasized that Obi is a law-abiding and peaceful person, and the accusation against him was intended to smear his reputation. Abure added that despite the election being provocatively rigged, the LP’s flagbearer has chosen to remain peaceful and pursue justice, and that the admonishment of Obi was made in bad faith.

Babayo Aliyu Misau, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, has been suspended from the party by the Kukadi/Gundari ward officials in the Misau local government area of the state. It was gathered that Misau was suspended for engaging in anti-party activities during the March 18th governorship election. On Tuesday, the Chairman of the Kukadi/Gundari ward, Ibrahim Lawan Zango, and the ward secretary, Aliyu Hassan Adamu, made this announcement while addressing newsmen in Bauchi.
8. Donald Trump ‘Arrested’ Over Alleged Criminal Charges
Former US President, Donald Trump has been formally ‘arrested’ following his arrival at the New York courthouse where he will become the first US leader to be charged with criminal Offense.
The frontrunner to be the Republicans’ choice for the White House in 2024 surrendered to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in the same building.
Minutes earlier, Trump pumped his fist as he left his home at Trump Tower before being escorted to the courthouse in a motorcade by his Secret Service protection team.
Wearing a dark blue suit and red tie, Trump is due to be fingerprinted and processed but it is unclear whether a mugshot of him will also be taken.
Trump will then make his way to the courtroom for his arraignment where the formal charges will be disclosed and he is then expected to enter a plea. He is not expected to be in handcuffs during the proceedings.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, he wrote: “Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL – WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!”
9. President Buhari sacks NASENI Chief Executive, Prof Haruna, gives strong reason
After completing his tenure, Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has been relieved of his duties by President Muhammadu Buhari with immediate effect. The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has released a statement directing Prof. Haruna to hand over to the next most senior officer in the agency.

Peoples Gazette on Tuesday suspended Ayoola Babalola over his conduct online that violated the newspaper’s social media policy and called into question its integrity.
The development was announced in a memo released by the platform’s Deputy Managing Editor, Boladale Adekoya.
Babalola following the suspension agreed to attend counselling during the suspension to further enhance his conduct.
Adekoya in the memo stated, “Ayoola Babalola met with the HR, where he was directed to proceed on suspension for one month without pay.
