The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has promised if voted into power in 2023, his administration will provide an opportunity for Nigerians in diaspora to participate in the 2027 elections.

 

Goldennewsng reports that he gave the assurance at a townhall meeting with Nigerians in Frankfurt, Germany, on Friday, 26th of August 2022.

 

According to him, ”Nigerian Diaspora must have a voice via absentee ballots.”

 

The former Anambra governor also said that the challenge of insecurity will be addressed by increasing security personnel, adequately training and equipping the armed forces.

 

Obi reiterated his position that his government will focus on moving the economy from consumption to production.

 

He also said that there will be zero tolerance for corruption and the cost of governance will be cut down.

 

In a series of tweets, Obi said; ”We will pursue intangible assets of good governance, security of lives and properties through an aggressive increase in personnel and equipment and inclusive training of operatives in our security agencies.

We will aggressively pursue human capital development in the education and health sectors with a view of meeting global funding targets and best practices.

We will move our country robustly from consumption to production and especially with strong support from exportation of Nigerian manufactured goods and commodities.

Africa will remain the centrepiece of our foreign policy. We will improve Nigeria’s diplomatic sphere of influence via peacekeeping, trade, and investment initiatives.

We will continue to engage the Nigerian Diaspora in ways that is mutually beneficial. By 2027 election, Nigerian Diaspora must have a voice via absentee ballots. We will have zero tolerance for corruption and will cut the cost of governance.”
