NIMC Mentions UTME Candidates Who Can’t Get JAMB Profile Codes, Gives Reason

NIMC’s Message to Parents About JAMB 2025 Registration: What You Need to Know

GoldenNewsNg reports that the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has shared an important update for parents and guardians of students under 16 or just turning 16. If your child plans to take the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), there’s a step you need to take to ensure their registration process goes smoothly.

According to NIMC, students under 16 will not be able to generate their JAMB profile code online. Instead, parents or guardians must take these students to the nearest NIMC enrollment center to update their National Identity Number (NIN) records. Without this update, generating the JAMB profile code—a requirement for registration—will not be possible.

Here’s what NIMC said:

“Attention parents/guardians: Is your child/ward under or just turned 16 on their NIN record? They won’t be able to generate their JAMB profile code. Take them to the nearest NIMC Enrolment Centre for a quick ‘Migration’ update. Ensure their dreams of higher education aren’t delayed.”

JAMB’s Update for 2025 UTME Candidates

In addition to NIMC’s announcement, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reminded candidates to get their NIN and ensure they have a new phone number that has not been previously used for JAMB registration.

JAMB shared this on their social media platform:

“You can get your NIN ahead and a phone number that has not been previously used to register on our platform to generate your profile code prior to the time.”

JAMB also announced that details about the registration process for the 2025 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) would be released soon.

What’s New for the 2025 UTME?

  1. Reading Text for Use of English: JAMB has approved The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba as the reading text for candidates taking the Use of English exam.
  2. Scholarship Highlight: A 2024 UTME candidate, Olalude David Ayodeji, who scored 341, has been awarded a ₦2.4 million scholarship by the SQI College of ICT. Ayodeji will also receive professional training in Robotics Engineering at the college’s AI and Robotics Research Centre.

Steps for Parents and Candidates

  • For Parents of Students Under 16: Visit the nearest NIMC enrollment center to update your child’s NIN record.
  • For Candidates: Get your NIN ready, secure a new phone number for JAMB registration, and stay updated for further announcements.

By staying proactive and following these steps, you can ensure a smooth registration process for the 2025 UTME. Keep an eye on GoldenNewsNg for more updates as JAMB releases additional details.
