NIMC registration deadline: How to know Nigeria NIN sim link deadline penalty for MTN, Airtel, Glo, Etisalat lines

Following the NIMC registration deadline , the deadline for subscribers with the National Identification Number ( NIN ) to link with their mobile number has been postponed to 9 February, 2021.

 

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the  Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami earlier gave December 30, 2020, for subscribers to update their details or risk blocking of lines. then later extended the date to 19 January, 2021.

However the new date NIMC deadline is now 9 February,  extra three weeks from today for those that has not  gotten their  NIN..

Dr Isa Pantami made it known on a tweet that th process still continues

GoldenNewsNg understands that  NIN-SIM linkage deadline of 19 January is for those who already has NIN, that means those who already registered with the NIMC.

February 9th, is for those who do not have  NIN, that means those who who are yet to register with the  NIMC.

Although Most Nigerians are pleading to the government to  extend the deadline but the FG has yet to say anything about  extension.

If the deadline is not extended, it may affect the country ‘s economy . According to figures from National Bureau of Statistics, telecom sector has contributed 31.8 trillion naira to Nigeria Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

NIN-SIM linkage deadline last-minute important information , people who  already have the National Identification Number (NIN) and are yet to  link to  phone numbers, can still do it now, before 11:59PM 21st January, 2021.

  • After the deadline, all SIMs without NINs will be blocked from networks.
  • One Ministerial Task Force comprising the Minister and all the CEOs of telecoms sector (among others) as members is to monitor compliance by all networks.
  • disobedient to this  directive will face hard punishment, including the possibility of withdrawing  of operating license.

The  NCC has hereby  advise the general public to ensure that  NINs are captured on their SIM registration data.

Adding that  all inconveniences caused by this  directive is  deeply regretted.
