The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, through its president, Ayuba Wabba, has issued plans to embark on a nationwide strike unless the federal government reverse the recently increased prices of petroleum and electricity tariff.
The Labour leader gave the directive on Wednesday in Abuja, saying the NLC’s Central Working Committee CWC has concluded plans to issue a two week ultimatum to the federal government to reverse the increase.
“NLC central committee will also mobilize it’s members, civic society allies and other social partners to resist this policy because it has driven many to poverty.”
He noted that while other countries across the world are giving palliatives to their citizens to cushion the effect of Covid-19, government decided to increase not only the price of fuel but electricity tariff as well.
