Nollywood Mourns as Actress Nkechi Nweje Passes Away
The Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported passing of popular actress Nkechi Nweje
Colleagues and friends have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the late actress, whose contributions to the Nigerian film industry were widely recognized.
Veteran actress Rita Edochie shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, featuring a candlelight image with a dark background. She captioned it:
“This world is really not our home.”
Fans and industry colleagues also poured out their sorrow. A social media user, Buchi Dortmund, wrote:
“Today, my heart is heavy with sorrow as I say goodbye to my dear sister. Words cannot capture the depth of this pain, nor can they fully express the love I have for her. Rest in peace, Ezigbo Mrs. Nkechi Nweje.”
Another mourner, Asa Ikuku, referred to the actress by one of her known titles:
“Rest in peace, mummy Nkechi Nweje TV (Nwanyi Onitsha). You were truly a blessing to us, but God knows best. We will miss you so much, great Nollywood actress. Rest on, legend.”
Similarly, Lilian Mma Faith shared her shock at the news:
“Madam Nkechi Nweje, aka Nwanyi Onitsha, I read from a close source that she had been sick for a while and just passed away at the verge of recovery. No wonder she had become scarce on screen. Kai! Goodnight, Nwanyi Oma Onitsha. Onwu amaghi eme (death knows no boundaries)!”
