NPower Payment Stipend Backlog Update Today 20th December 2023

In the latest developments surrounding the NPower program’s transformation into the Renewed Hope Job Creation Programme (RHJCP), beneficiaries can expect positive changes amid ongoing challenges. The shift to RHJCP, spearheaded by Dr. Betta Edu, aims to empower Nigerian youth, promising opportunities for both degree holders and those without degrees.

  1. Overdue Payments Resolved: Beneficiaries awaiting stipends can breathe a sigh of relief as overdue payments, spanning a nine-month backlog, are set to be disbursed starting this month. The government, led by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has promised to pay all outstanding stipends by January 2024.
  2. RHJCP Recruitment Update: Contrary to online rumors about new job opportunities under the N-Power RHJCP, the Nigerian government has clarified that the hiring process has not yet commenced. The government plans to hire 5 million young people over the next five years, covering various sectors. Aspiring candidates are advised to rely on official channels to stay informed and avoid falling victim to fake websites.
  3. Program Enhancements and Expansion: The NPower program, now transitioning into RHJCP, is undergoing significant changes to address unemployment effectively. Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the person in charge, outlined key improvements, including a promise to pay owed money after thorough verification, an expanded age limit allowing people up to 40 years old to join, and the introduction of diverse programs in education, health, work, farming, technology, fashion, entertainment, and other job skills.
  4. Nationwide Peaceful Protest and Government Response: Participants in the N-Power program staged a nationwide peaceful protest on December 13, 2023, demanding payment for the last nine months. The Minister, Betta Edu, assured that a new payment structure would be implemented in December 2023, with payments expected to commence in January 2024. The government is actively working to verify all beneficiaries before disbursing payments.
  5. Government Commitment to Addressing Payment Delays: Betta Edu, addressing concerns over payment delays, emphasized the government’s commitment to fixing the issues. Despite frustrations expressed by participants, the government has assured them that the restructuring of the N-Power scheme will lead to timely payments, even for those no longer in the program.
  6. NSIPA’s Exciting Announcement: The National Social Intervention Programme (NSIPA) has teased an upcoming announcement, generating anticipation among the public. While the nature of the announcement remains undisclosed, NSIPA manages impactful programs, including the N-Power Program RHJCP. Visitors to the NSIPA website are encouraged to stay tuned for a significant revelation.
  7. Beneficiary Struggles and Call for Transparency: Despite the positive transformations, N-Power beneficiaries continue to face financial difficulties due to late stipend payments. Some participants are finding it challenging to afford basic needs, hindering their education and training plans. The beneficiaries are urging N-Power to address the delays promptly, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

In conclusion, the NPower program’s evolution into RHJCP brings both challenges and promises. As the government actively works to resolve payment delays and enhance the program’s impact, beneficiaries and the public remain hopeful for positive developments in the coming weeks.
