Do UNILAG Offer Nursing?

Yes, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) offers nursing as a program of study. It is one of the fully accredited universities in Nigeria where students can pursue a degree in nursing. Those interested in becoming a nurse and considering UNILAG as their preferred institution can gain admission through JAMB or other direct entry options such as JUPEB.

 

 

Requirements Check List

To study Nursing in UNILAG you must meet with the following JAMB and O’ level subject (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) requirements

JAMB SubjectUse of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
O’ level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) RequirementFive (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Direct Entry Requirements(i) ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Physics, Chemistry and Biology.(ii) ND Upper Credit in Prosthesis and Orthopaedic Technology.

(iii) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/ Zoology, Chemistry and Physics plus three (3) other ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and English Language.
(iv) NRN or its approved equivalent plus five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and four (4) Science subjects chosen from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology and Hygiene, Health Science, Further Mathematics and General Science.

P.S, Mathematics is not needed in JAMB for those who want to study Nursing in UNILAG

 

UNILAG Departmental Cut Off Mark: What You Need to Know to Study Nursing

To gain admission into the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study Nursing, you must meet certain requirements, including the departmental cut off mark. Here’s what you need to know:

JAMB and Post UTME Requirements

To qualify for the UNILAG Post UTME for Nursing, you need to score at least 200 in JAMB. However, a score of 300 and above increases your chances of admission. You also need to perform well in the UNILAG Post UTME exam.

UNILAG Nursing Aggregate Score

The aggregate score for admission into Nursing at UNILAG is 79. To calculate your aggregate score, you divide your JAMB score by 8 and your Post UTME score by 2, then sum them up. Therefore, a higher JAMB and Post UTME score increases your chances of admission.

JUPEB Program and JAMB Direct Entry

Apart from JAMB, you can also gain admission through the JUPEB program, which is a one-year program that leads to admission into 200 level. You can also apply for JAMB Direct Entry if you have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or the biological sciences.

 

Duration of Study

It takes 5 years to study Nursing at UNILAG. However, there is a compulsory 1-year internship and a 1-year NYSC program, making the entire duration of study 7 years.
