Ondo State’s Ajowa-Akoko residents have pleaded with the federal and state governments to urgently stop the rising number of cases of insecurity in the community.
Goldennewsng reports that Ondo State’s border town of Ajowa-Akoko has recently encountered security concerns.
Gunmen recently kidnapped the community’s monarch, taking him from his palace within the community.
Four students from Kogi State Polytechnic were also kidnapped while traveling to the community for the Yuletide celebration a few days after the monarch was freed by his abductors.
Mr. Jacob Adegoke, the community spokesperson, lamented the terrible experience that residents had had over the previous two years at the hands of criminals they claimed had killed, maimed, raped, and kidnapped their people at a town hall meeting to discuss the issue.
Adegoke urged all levels of government to improve security in the community, which, according to him, is the last one in the state that borders the north of the country.
Rt. Chairman of the Ajowa community and retired Anglican bishop Revd Ezekiel Dahunsi praised Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for strengthening security with the Amotekun Corps, but he also requested additional assistance in Ajowa-Akoko to protect residents from any kind of intimidation.
Oba Jimoh Omoola, the Oloso of Oso-Ajowa, believes that military personnel should also be sent to the area to help the security system.
He suggested that a divisional police headquarters be established in Ajowa.
