Commissioning of CAN Secretariat

The Governor of Niger state, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago has commissioned the renovated Secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger state chapter in Minna.

It should be noted that, the Secretariat which was renovated by the leadership of the current State Chairman, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna laid fallow for almost a decade until the emergence of Most Rev. Dr. Yohanna who vowed to renovate the structure in his inaugural speech.

While commissioning the Secretariat as part of activities to mark his One year in office, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago who was represented by Commissioner, Small and Medium Enterprise, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba applauded the CAN Chairman who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese for taking up the project and making it habitable for use.

He assured that his administration will work closely with religious bodies to ensure that morals are instill in the lives of everyone.

According to him “I commend the CAN Chairman for renovating this Secretariat and for believing in the New Niger Agenda. Just as you mean well for Christians, so also I am passionate in fixing the state”

Governor Bago further appeal for total support and prayers for him to succeed and achieve the New Niger Agenda.

Earlier, Bishop Yohanna appeal to the Governor to carry and treat all religious bodies equally saying, “the renovated Secretariat needs perimeter fencing and a Hall that can accommodate a minimum of five hundred persons”.

Bishop Yohanna while appreciating the developmental strides of the governor also urged him to earmark spaces for cemetery adding that the main one at the David Mark road is already filled up.

It should be noted that, Christians in the state gathered for a thanksgiving Service in honor of the Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s one year of his administration at the St. Peter Cathedral Church, Minna organized by the office of Niger state Coordinator Christian Affairs in collaboration with CAN.
